History: In 1995, the Healthy Child Care America campaign was launched on the principle that families in partnership with child care and health care providers can promote the positive development of children in child care settings. In 1996, the Illinois Department of Human Services (DHS), local health departments and the Illinois Network of Child Care Resource & Referral Agencies partnered together to improve the health and safety in Illinois’ child care settings.
The Goals:
- Promote safe, healthy child care environments for all children, including those with special health challenges.
- Increase immunization rates
- Provide education, referrals, and resources for child care providers regarding physical, mental health, nutrition, and safety topics.
- Access to quality health care, dental care and developmental screenings.
- Promote medical homes for all children through collaboration with service area pediatricians.
To strive to achieve these goals a Nurse Consultant is on site at the CCR&R office in Joliet.
